Trackmaking XII

While working on the second modules trackwork, and avoiding doing other jobs (there is an order for the point work at North Junction to fill yet) I noticed a possible shortcut. With the previous track work I had drawn it out on plain paper, and then transferred it onto tracing paper. This is a hangover from the S scale guys methods. It also rely's on correct transposition of the various curve radii. I noticed on completion of the first piece of trackage and placing it back on the plan, it didn't match in some places. While looking at the second module tonight it hit me that I could instead just cut out the particular part of the track formation from the pre-drawn plan and use it as the track template. So before common sense got a look in I had cut out 2 track formations and stuck them down to the board.

'I'll just make a delicate incision'

'They look much more comfortable here...'

I then got stuck in and stuck down the sleepers. It seems to be working so far, but I have yet to wave a soldering iron at it.

(Oh, and today's question for the Peanut gallery is; any suggestions on laying track across an inspection pit? Do I have to prevail on Woodsworks to do a PCB template for one?)
