It was the first Thursday of the month and that means its monthly support group time. The discussions were indeed wide ranging, from the lotteries commission to the growing of pineapples (there's never a dull moment). My railcar received positive comments, which means that carnation red is obviously subjective depending on the lighting and who's looking at it. The Ed mechs also had positive comment.
There was an interesting discussion on the disposal of several local modelers artifacts after they had died which was actually quite interesting. The hobby isn't overly cheap, and we all tend to be of the hoarder disposition. This mean's that when we shuffle off to the great workbench in the sky, our significant others are left to deal with the remains, which tend to look like a miniature junk yard without the dobermans. A catalog is desirable, but I'm not sure if its overly feasible ('I've got how many peco wheel sets this week?')
the other topic your scribe found interesting was about a club layout that I was previously not aware of (its in one of those funny larger scales so its probably not overly important). I've been a member of a club which had a large layout, and there is a fair amount of work involved to keep such a beast up and running. The local layout is in the planning phase at the moment, and when anyone says 'well, nothings been built but I've got it all planned' that's a sign you should be inching towards the door. The discussion has been put off till next month but I'll have some hard questions to put to the supporters. A club layout is a big financial and time involvement which the planners do not often take into consideration.
